Warwick City Hall Plaza ice rink plans unveiled. Greenwood Credit Union bid wins naming rights.
A press conference was held yesterday to announce the highest bidder for the naming rights of Warwick’s “City Hall Plaza” outdoor skating rink. It is Greenwood Credit Union.
Mayor Picozzi announced the city’s plan last year to build an outdoor ice skating rink, modeled after the rink in Providence, on the land of the former Annex Building located behind City Hall. The project has been a vision of Mayor Picozzi’s since he was sworn into office.
Greenwood Credit Union bid $300,000 – winning out over Dave’s Marketplace, the next highest bidder at $260,000.
The press conference was followed later that day with a meeting before the Warwick City Council to solidify details.

This is the dumbest thing The city has ever thought of doing!!! We should be rebuilding the city office’s on city property so we are not paying ridiculous rent. I think the office’s should be next to town hall. If they build it there there will be more people to hire. Purchase a Zamboni and eventually hire a security
guard. If they build it where the rink is now they have people and a Zamboni.
