UPDATE: RI Nursing Home & Long Term Care COVID19 cases decline; deaths steady

Each day we see the statistics from the RI Dept. of Health. With 99% of deaths and 77% of hospitalizations among seniors, we have been tracking nursing homes and assisted living facilities/congregate care settings from the very beginning of data collection.

While most nursing homes are fully vaccinated, staff and ancillary employees have not all complied and vaccination is not mandatory in private facilities – so coronavirus is still active in this population in Rhode Island.

Since vaccinations began we have seen a big decrease in cases, while 140 new deaths since

March 3 (update from Feb. 10) 65 new cases and 140 additional deaths

Jan. 26 – 293 new cases – 35 new deaths

Jan. 20 – 293 new cases – 35 new deaths

Jan. 14 – 298 new cases – 55 new deaths

Jan. 8 – 423 new cases – 95 new deaths
