Twilight Wish(es) for Cumberland senior

A new television for Michael. A simple wish for this 66 year old in Cumberland, Rhode Island. When that simple wish made itself known to the Twilight Wish Foundation, they went about making it a reality.

Michael had a huge smile and said “I feel like a kid on Christmas morning” when his wish was granted.

Michael Harten spent many years giving back to his community as a teacher and then working in the field of human services helping adults with disabilities. He retired after 35 years. Living alone now, on a fixed income, his old tube TV w/antenna had just a few channels and was dying. Michael said that today”enjoyment, entertainment from a new TV is more than a luxury….”. But on his limited income, he couldn’t manage to buy a new one, and have it put into his home. Today a television is a true lifeline, providing information, entertainment, but also companionship for those seniors or isolated people who can go for days and days with no interaction.

On May 10th, the Rhode Island chapter of the Twilight Wish Foundation, a national nonprofit organization, made Michael’s wish come true. Led by Jane Donnelly, director of the chapter, a new television made its way, funded by donations from across Rhode Island, when the group reached out with Michael’s wish – and need.

The group is actively seeking donations so they can continue to make twilight wishes come true across the state of Rhode Island for seniors in need. (Write RI Chapter in “Notes/Memo” section) https://twilightwish.org/donate.
