TODAY: Tim Jones at Brown & Hopkins Country Store – release of Yacht Club “Sour Grapes”
Rhode Island cartoonist, Timothy Jones, whose column, Sour Grapes, runs every Wednesday in RINewsToday, will be at Brown & Hopkins Country Store TODAY from 11am to 5pm.
The appearance launches the “Sour Grapes” Yacht Club Soda, the Rhode Island based company’s latest brand.

YACHT CLUB SODA — THE OFFICIAL SODA OF RHODE ISLAND will now have a new product in its fun line of delicious club sodas – it’s called SOUR GRAPES! And yes, that is Tim Jones’ comic strip and Aesop, the main character, featured on their bottles.
Yacht Club Soda is celebrating their 108th year – with 34 soda flavors, using “only the finest extracts and ingredients”. A family-owned and operated local manufacturer from the beginning, Yacht Club opened in 1915 with the goal of bringing a premium quality beverages to Rhode Island.
A lot has changed over the last 109 years, but Yacht Club says it has remained true to its roots, and continually dedicated to providing premium artisan beverages to Rhode Island and beyond.
The bright green soda sports a sweet and slightly sour kick to it. It is the first product relationship for Tim and Aesop.
Yacht Club’s corporate office is at 2239 Mineral Spring Avenue in North Providence, where they also have a retail store. Their sodas are featured at Chelo’s RINewsToday features the “Sour Grapes” cartoon every Wednesday – and has for several years.
Tim is also a popular feature at Rhode Island Comic Con, this year November 1-3 in Providence. He hopes to see the AMP offer Yacht Club “Sour Grapes” at their concession stands.
The official announcement of Sour Grapes soda has yet to be made, said owner John Sgambato, but will be made within the coming days. On Sunday, Tim will be at Brown and Hopkins General Store on Sunday, October 20th (planned for 11 to 5). Brown and Hopkins is at 1179 Putnam Pike in Chepachet.
