Applications to be Accepted from February 7, 2022 to March 21, 2022
Pawtucket Mayor Donald R. Grebien, Public Safety Director Police Chief Tina Goncalves, and Pawtucket Fire Department Chief William Sisson have announced that the Pawtucket Police and Fire Departments will be accepting applications beginning February 7, 2022 and ending March 21, 2022 for new officers and firefighters.
“Pawtucket is a great community to live, work, and commit to public service” said Mayor Donald R. Grebien. “Becoming a police officer or firefighter is a rewarding experience and holds the great responsibility of protecting our citizens and our community. We hope you will join our team.”
“The top priority of the Pawtucket Police Department is to ensure the safety of the residents, businesses, and visitors to our city,” said Chief Goncalves. “We are always looking for qualified and dedicated individuals who will enhance our team and assist in serving the public.”
“The Fire Department consists of individuals whose selfless acts keeps our community safe. Being a firefighter is more than just a career,” said Chief Sisson. “We always welcome anyone who wants to join our team in protecting the residents that we serve.”
Requirements for police candidates which must be met by applicants at the time of application include the following:
- Graduation from high school or a General Education Diploma (GED)
- Age 18 or older, no more than 35 years of age by March 21, 2022
- U.S. Citizen
- A valid driver’s license
- Thirty (30) completed college credits from an accredited college or one (1) year active military service in lieu of college credits.
Passing the testing is an important step in becoming an officer. In an effort to help applicants prepare for the physical agility test, the Department will hold a “mock” physical agility test on March 13 at Pariseau Field. Please visit www.pawtucketpdrecruitment.com for more information and updates. During this mock test, applicants can participate in a simulated physical agility test while receiving coaching and assistance by certified assessors. Applicants are asked to arrive 30 minutes early to check in, and each applicant MUST sign a waiver upon arrival to participate. The official agility test is scheduled for March 26, 2022.
Police applications will only be accepted through www. www.PoliceApp.com/PawtucketPD. If you have any questions regarding the requirements, please contact the Personnel Office at 401-728-0500 ext. 235.
