To Do in RI: ARIA author series – 3 authors at Borealis Coffee House, Bristol – TODAY
ARIA Closes their 2024 Author Series with “A Night of Thrills, Intrigue and Social Discourse: An Author Showcase and Book Signing Event”
Thursday, November 7th, 7:00 to 9:00 PM – Borealis Coffee House, 500 Wood Street, Bristol, RI
The Association of Rhode Island Authors (ARIA) in partnership with he Borealis Coffee Company of Bristol presents a public event featuring books by three accomplished local authors with selected readings from their works and time set aside for Q&A, book signings and sales.
Cheryl Giesinger received a BA from URI in 2006. She loves to travel and understand the world through history, art and culture. These themes predominate in her intriguing novels, “What Comes of Ashes, The Origins of Edith, Where the Saltwater Ends, and The Kind of Place Nothing Bad Happens”. Her books are a suspenseful interweaving of woman’s literary themes.
Frozen Voices, Lynne Heinzemann’s gripping story about the 1907 sinking of the passenger steamship Larchmont, is a winner of the Fairfield Book Prize. She has since published three other books, But Cats Don’t Talk, The Island Adventures of Paul Stedman and The Curious Childhood of Wanton Chase. Lynne is a native of Texas, grew up in eastern Pennsylvania, was educated here in Rhode Island and has taught English and creative writing at URI.
Gary Benassi also received his BS from URI and then a Master’s from Michigan State and worked for the Defense Department for 34 years. He writes serious historic fiction that examines the social mores of people caught up in World War II. Il Dottore, for example, focuses on the life of a young doctor that volunteers to go into Auschwitz and work with Nazi doctors. His most recent book, Cauldron of Fire looks at life during the Nazi occupation in Poland.
There is no cover charge for this event. Borealis offers coffee, food items and alcoholic beverages for purchase. There will be providing audience-style seating for 40-50 people; additional seating will also be available.
Watch for our 2025 Schedule of Author’s Showcase events.
