The RINewsToday family remembers… Harris “Hershey” Rosen

by Nancy Thomas, publisher

It is with great sadness that we note the passing of one of our valued writers, Hershey Rosen. Rosen, a writer from the very beginning of RINewsToday, was best known to us as the author of several books, his last being, “WHY? Because I Love You”, a book that gave practical information on why people need to organize the information in their lives for those who they leave behind. Rosen died 2 days before his 90th birthday.

Always passionate about assisting others, Hershey had been a director or trustee of numerous boards and organizations. He has written Creating A Guide So Your Loved Ones Can Go On Living! to help others protect their spouses (and families) from the intense stress that will occur if one does not share financial information and knowledge critical to a functioning home. He then wrote My Family Record Book, expanding on the information in his first book, and finally, in 2020, WHY? Because I Love You was published.

Rosen wrote close to 40 articles which can be found in archived format at: https://rinewstoday.com/hershey-rosen/

Hershey’s funeral is this morning at 11am at Temple Beth-El on the East Side of Providence. We share his obituary, below and send our deepest sympathies to his wife, Myrna, and his family and friends.

Hershey was a kind and thoughtful colleague – it was my pleasure, and honor, to promote his books, in my years as his publicist. Having him join RINewsToday as one of our featured contributors was just another way for him to get out his message of caring for those around him, recognizing how one’s passing can put those who are left behind into chaos if they don’t know important details that go far beyond what would be contained in a will and testament. His book inspired us, of all ages, to think about putting our affairs in order, to think of those we love the most, and everything we would want to tell them to help them through this heartbreaking transition. We know Hershey rests with comfort in that he did exactly what he wanted to do for Myrna, his wife, and his loved ones. A life so meaningfully lived – be at peace, my friend.– Nancy Thomas, publisher
