Super Bowl LIX – what steals the show this year

Kansas City Chiefs vs. Philadelphia Eagles – it’s all about YOU!

Well… it’s about a lot of other things, too. For some it will be about the game, the score. Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce. For others, the bet. Then there’s the food. The camaraderie. The big biz of it all. The team colors. The entertainment. The politics.

For the first time a sitting President will attend. High security. High drama.

Then – for those in the media and PR biz – for most of us – it will be all about the creativity of the ads. Sometimes it’s not the most expensive to make, it’s the emotion and inspiration it will leave us with.

While Super Bowl ads used to be the advertising industry’s most guarded secret, now they are premiered well before the big day.

Surprises today? There won’t be many. But one rumor – that Elon Musk spent $40 million on Super Bowl ads exposing the government waste found by DOGE, to date – has wheels spinning on this unprecedented possibility. We can only image several ads detailing crazy programs that have now seen the light of day – and the crowd’s reaction to them. Hopefully it won’t inspire living room fist fights in the airing, if it does! Enjoy the Clydesdales and Meg Ryan – head for the restroom if it comes to politics and you know how split the room might be!

From the Tribune: “Super Bowl advertising is among the most expensive in the world, with a 30-second spot for this year’s game costing around $8 million. Musk has not confirmed nor denied the rumors regarding his Super Bowl ads, so fans will have to wait for the game on February 9th between the Kansas City Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles to see if the commercials materialize”.

Below is a selection of ads we particularly like. Look for a local ad to pop up, too – for Brown Health, aka Lifespan.

What else to look for? Rumor has it the Elon Musk is buying ads to talk about waste in government that he is working on uncovering. President Trump will speak at 3pm on an interview with Bret Baier on Fox pre-game. President Trump will attend the game – history making – boos or cheers? Will the stadium do the Trump dance? Hmm. And, of course, Taylor Swift will be there, getting camera glances like a 1-person cheer team. Kendrick Lamar will lead half time entertainment. Don’t forget the Puppy Bowl – main show 2pm on The Animal Planet, NPR – dogs from nearly 40 states. And, of course, we wish for peace – and security – in the city of New Orleans still reeling after a domestic terrorism attack just weeks ago.

Go, Chiefs! Go, Eagles! Go, Nawlins! Go, USA!
