Frequently Asked Questions?
Are the Shred Days free?
Community Shred Days are always FREE!
What should I bring to the Shred Day?
It is important to protect your personal information and destroy your confidential documents from time to time. We recommend you bring old bank statements, tax documents and any other old documents that contain your personal or financial information.
We can also accept DVDs, CDs, cassette tapes, and floppy discs that have been removed from their case. No items containing heavy metal are accepted at Shred Day events- we CANNOT accept batteries, cell phones or hard drives.
Do I need to sort the papers or remove paper clips?
Not at all. All you need to do is bring your documents in a box to the event. You don’t have to worry about removing paper clips, staples or binder clips.
How do I know my documents have been securely disposed of?
Shred-It’s state-of-the-art shredders use cross-cut shredding technology, which destroys your confidential materials into confetti-sized pieces, so they can never be reconstructed.
Is there a limit to how much I can bring to the Shred Day?
Yes, in order to accommodate as many people as possible, we ask that you bring a maximum of two boxes of documents to shred. Please be prepared for staff to dump your documents into Shred-It bins, and then return your boxes back to you.
