Scouts Welcome Lee Duckworth as New Council President

The Narragansett Council – Scouting America today announced that board member and lifelong Scout Lee Duckworth has been elected its new Council President. The board of Narragansett Council – Scouting America elected him to succeed Gary Furtado, who has served in the role since 2023.
Duckworth is an avid outdoorsman who enjoys sharing his passion for nature with Scouts as they discover the outdoors for themselves.

“It’s an honor to serve Scouting and our community in this capacity,” said Duckworth. “Scouting has transformed my life and set me on a path toward life- and career-long success. I’m looking forward to the opportunity to build our next generation of leaders in this new capacity.”

Duckworth began his Scouting journey as a Scout with Troop 270 in Newtown, Connecticut, where he advanced to the rank of Star Scout.

Today, Duckworth serves as chief executive officer and founding partner of Capital Wealth Management in East Greenwich, Rhode Island, where he oversees many of the firm’s financial planning and investment advisory relationships. In his free time, he enjoys boating, shooting, and camping, and lives in Wakefield with his wife, Karyn.

Scout Executive and CEO of Narragansett Council – Scouting America, Tim McCandless, welcomed Duckworth to the new role, adding, “Lee has played an important role in strengthening Scouting across Southeastern New England. More young people are joining our programs and making a real impact in their communities while gaining the leadership skills they’ll carry throughout life. I look forward to partnering with Lee as he begins his service as President of our Executive Board.”
