(UPDATE) Scouts staff 60 sites across RI/MA/CT informational “Join Scouting Day”, Sept. 23rd
UPDATE: We wanted to update you on the success of this program. According to the Narragansett Council, Boy Scouts of America: In addition to 376 new Scouts, an additional 200 contacted the Council for more information about Scouting programs. The Council reported especially high interest in the communities of Warwick, Cumberland, Newport, Middletown, and Acushnet.
Local Scouts will host the first ever ‘Join Scouting Day’ at 60 sites across Rhode Island, Southeastern Massachusetts and Pawcatuck, Connecticut on Saturday, September 23rd, 2023 from 10:00 am – 2:00 pm.
The events are sponsored by the Narragansett Council, Boy Scouts of America (NCBSA).
Adult leaders will join boys and girls representing local Packs and Troops to answer questions and show what Scouting is all about. They will also be able to assist anyone interested in joining Scouts to sign up. The events are rain or shine, or you can sign up online.
The full list of 60 convenient local sites all across the region is available here: www.ncbsa.org/join – and here:
NCBSA is offering $25 off the annual registration fee for all sign ups completed by September 23rd with the code JOIN25.
Scouting offers boys and girls a chance to explore the outdoors and participate in fun events, while making new friends and joining a tight-knit group. It also provides an opportunity for Scouts to take on new responsibilities, building skills and confidence.
In addition, Scouting takes place in a safe environment, with adventures that Scouts enjoy and that allow them to grow, while leaving plenty of time for school work and other activities. Scouts also develop a family and community-oriented perspective as they grow into their teens.
“Scouting presents unique opportunities to learn lifelong lessons about important values, leadership and skills,” said Tim McCandless, NCBSA Scout Executive and CEO. “We look forward to meeting new families on September 23rd and welcoming them to Scouting this fall!”
