Saving lives, Paul Rego donates his 100th gallon of blood at the Rhode Island Blood Center

Rhode Island retiree Paul Rego, a longtime blood donor, donated his 100th gallon of blood on Thursday, April 17th at Rhode Island Blood Center’s Providence Donor Center.

Paul, relocating to Rhode Island in 1982, began as a frequent blood donor in his home state of Pennsylvania. He was inspired to donate initially when his mother-in-law underwent a kidney removal, and has been donating ever since.

Since learning that he has a high platelet count, Paul almost exclusively donates platelets, and is motivated to donate by the childhood cancer patients who rely on them for survival.
