Ron & Jen’s Great Escape, January 24, 2024 – Ron St. Pierre and Jen Brien
by Ron St. Pierre and Jen Brien, commentary
LIFE IS AN ACT
You know what I figured out a long, long time ago?
Many people know the truth. They’ve got a bulls#!t meter THIS BIG, and they’re really tuned in to the fake people, fake things, fake situations that are happening out there in the world.
I mention this revelation because, oddly enough, the same people who see the madness going on (because NOT ALL DO… there are a lot of really stupid, lazy people out there) all around them will be the first ones to “act” like they’ve got their crap together at work in meetings, laugh at bad jokes, pretend to care when they don’t and lie to your face about whatever. These people are often the ones to make it in business, according to a recent study. Yep. The sick, gaslighting narcissists are the ones who tend to take top PRIZE. That’s so gross.
What I’m saying is all of this around us is one big act. Most people are an act. I cannot stand when I see someone online post something about themselves to draw sympathy, attention or blatantly lie about who they are all the while knowing they are the world’s biggest a$$hole, who cheats on his wife, and steals from the donation box at church.
I’m not being judgy as much as I’m saying, WE SEE YOU. We see the fake optimists who pretend the world isn’t burning all around us at the gym, but then go home and binge and purge or drink themselves into a coma because “they know the truth”.
We see the church pastor who talks a good game on Sunday but is the biggest diva known to man who blows through the “Starbucks” drive thru on Monday and castigates staff if the order is wrong.
They know the “truth”.
We see the toxic liars who claim they’re always poor with sick pets at home and can’t get to the vet, but take long weekends away partying and then purchase a brand new Ipadto the tune of 800$.
They know the “truth”.
We see the race hustlers, the media lies and the overwhelming stories about how horrible Republicans are when Democrats are equally if not more so repugnant. We see this. We know the truth. THEY KNOW THE TRUTH.
Like I said… thing is… we know. The question is, why do SO MANY PEOPLE insist on playing the game? If you don’t like someone, say it to their face. If you have a problem with your boss tell them rather than gossiping behind their back, but smiling when you see them during the day. If your neighbor is p—ing you off, confront them. Why don’t people have a want to live in truth and instead ignore it and create a “new truth” that makes whomever comfortable.
We are part of the problem of lies. Live authentically. Speak, but with respect. Don’t get pushed around, shamed, or talked down to.
Don’t be an act… cause the thing is… everyone knows you are one… even if no one is saying it.
Trust me. We know. I’m so sick of everyone lying about everything to everyone all THE TIME. Can you tell?
Till next week,
Jen
