Ron & Jen’s Great Escape, February 14, 2024 – Ron St. Pierre and Jen Brien
by Ron St. Pierre and Jen Brien, commentary
IS YOUR MICROWAVE CLEAN?
Let’s just start here and say I AIN’T NO SCIENTIST… or an ENGLISH MAJOR for that matter. I’m a human, having human experiences, and trying to find my way in this world. Sometimes I’ve gotten it right… many times I haven’t, but what I know for sure is I strive to be as honest and genuine as possible now that I’m sober and can see things through clear eyes.
I’ve seen a lot over the years, and have experienced A LOT, and I’ve come up with a theory. Remember, I’m not a scientist.
Here it is – If your microwave is dirty, you’re living a lie. Pretty heavy if you peek in there and a pizza roll just happened to explode because you were half-gassed last night at 2am and forgot about them.
But really – I’m serious. A microwave really represents people at home in their private world. No one will see it except you. No one will judge you for it. You don’t have to present it to the world… it’s just you and your way of living. Is it clean or dirty? That tells a lot about you.
Now, if its filthy, but you work like hell to step out your door looking perfect or sexy or business like or presentable then it’s an act. Because the true you … only you see when NO ONE IS LOOKING – is that microwave.
If it’s clean and you work like hell to step out your door looking perfect or sexy or business like or presentable than you’re real because you’re still YOU when no one is looking.
What am I saying? Who are we when we are not out in front or in the world or trying to impress or attain… How do we treat people who can do nothing for us, and do you have to be seen “AS” a certain way in order to feel ok or worthy?
Peek inside your microwave. Who are you?
TILL NEXT WEEK,
Jen

FEELING KIND OF “MEH”… YOU’RE NOT ALONE
Gallup says the Mood of the Nation is Americans feel kind of “meh.” 47% say they’re satisfied with their lives which is down from 50% last year, while 31% are somewhat satisfied, and 11% are somewhat dissatisfied. 78% of Americans feel some sort of satisfaction with their lives which is down from 90% in January 2020…and guess what started just about then? Yup, the pandemic.
IGNORANCE ISN’T BLISS
After the final whistle blew in Super Bowl 58, several members of the losing San Francisco 49ers admitted they “didn’t know the rules when it came to the overtime period. Apparently Head Coach Kyle Shanahan said he and his analytics staff talked about O-T possibilities but those talks never trickled down to the guys on the field. Defensive lineman, Arik Armstead, said he didn’t realize the O-T rules were different until he saw them displayed on the scoreboard. That’s when he said, “everyone was like, Oh, even if you score, they get a chance still.”
