Ron & Jen’s Great Escape – 5-25-22 – Ron St. Pierre and Jen Brien
by Ron St. Pierre and Jen Brien, commentary
OH, THE PLACES WE WON’T GO
Congratulations!
Today is your day! You’ll stay home from great places, cause you have bills to pay!
You have holes in your wallet and crumbs on the floor, gas prices are so high you can’t get to the store!
You’ll look up and down streets, look em’ over with dread, they repo’d your car, next they came for your bed!
Oh, the PLACES YOU WON’T GO!
Out there things can happen! Who knows where this goes, the economy is tanking and your 401k blows?
I’m afraid that at times you may want to cry,
The White House staff feels your pain cause Biden’s their guy.
He gets mixed up of course, and he sure likes to say ‘man’ , but the world is on fire, and he don’ t have a plan!
Oh, the places you WON’T GO!
TAKE HEART all my friends the midterms are soon
we all have a vote, and CAN sing a new tune!
Oh, the places WE WILL GO!

GREAT MALAISE TAKE TWO
Back in 1978 The US was locked in sky high inflation, sitting in gas lines around the country and dealing with rising unemployment. Then President Jimmy Carter addressed the nation with what historians call one of… if not THE… most tone deaf speeches to ever come out of the Oval Office. His CRISIS OF CONFIDENCE SPEECH (later named the MALAISE speech by Ronald Regan and Ted Kennedy) blamed Americans for the country’s woes. Carter saying “The threat is nearly invisible in ordinary ways. It is a crisis of confidence. It is a crisis that strikes at the very heart and soul and spirit of our national will. We can see this crisis in the growing doubt about the meaning of our own lives and in the loss of a unity of purpose for one nation.” What a great fireplace chat to deliver to worried Americans. Fast forward to 2022 and we see and hear the same finger pointing coming from the Biden administration. Out of touch as ever, Biden gave a cringe worthy statement during a press conference in Japan, actually praising high gas prices as part of an “incredible transition.” Biden saying, “We’re going through an incredible transition that is taking place, God willing, when it’s over, we’ll be stronger, and the world will be stronger and less reliant on fossil fuels.” Talk about tone deaf.

BACK TO THE NEST
Don’t turn your son’s bedroom into a billiard room (THE PLACE TO BE) just yet dad. Young adults in some major cities are considering moving back with their parents as rents rise. THE APARTMENT LIST reports rents in New York City have increased nearly 32%, while in D.C, rents are up nearly 11%. The average rent in NYC for a one bedroom apartment is a staggering $4,761 bucks.
