Ron & Jen’s Great Escape, 4-6-2022 – Ron St. Pierre & Jen Brien
by Ron St. Pierre & Jen Brien, commentary
MY MOM
As I write this, I’m visiting with my mother. For those of you that used to listen to me on WBZ from midnight to 5am some years ago you’d know I had my mom on Thursday mornings at 12am. I called it “Moments with Mom”. We would just talk about life, things, and whatnot. She was a BIG HIT! People really loved hearing her and I LOVED being able to have that radio experience with her. We laughed out loud together and basically it was just cool. Nerdy cool.
She has fallen ill over the last 3 months and she’s changing now, as she crosses over into the age where your brain begins to play tricks on you. I see how sad she is. What a struggle daily tasks are for her, and how cruel aging can be. Today my mom hugged me for a long time and just cried and cried. It broke my heart.
As our roles swap out and the children become the parent, I want to thank my father in heaven for rescuing me from the pit of alcoholism so I could have this time with her. I love my mother so very much. I wasn’t always present; I wasn’t always available; and I wasn’t sober for a very long time. But I am now. Thank God that I am now so I can be here for her. For those of you in recovery the struggle is real. For those of you still gripped by addiction, I understand and I’m praying for you. I believe in you.
Life is not easy on this side, but these new “Moments with Mom” mean more to me than anything. Take your life back. It really is possible.
Have a great week, friends…

AWARD SHOW FALLOUT
Hot on the heels of the Academy Awards scoring the SECOND lowest audiences in its history, the Grammys followed up with ITS SECOND lowest viewership. It’s just more proof the viewing public has “had it” with the “Beautiful People” celebrating their own celebrity. The Grammys got a ton of social media pushback too after comedian Louis CK won the award for Best Comedy Album for SINCERELY LOUIS CK. Considering the fact CK admitted to masturbating in front of multiple women without consent, social media was ablaze with outrage. Too soon… too soon!

HOW CAN WE MISS YOU IF YOU WON’T GO AWAY?
Disgraced former Fall River Mayor Jasiel Correia is wearing out his STAY OUT OF JAIL FREE card. Correia received the SEVENTH… count ‘em, folks… SEVENTH delay to his prison report date. Correia was supposed to report to a gated community on April 5th until Judge Douglas Woodlock approved yet another delay. The new report date is set for April 22nd. The judge wrote that Correia shouldn’t have his bail extended any longer BUT he’s giving Correia the chance to appeal that decision to the First Circuit April 11th. Correia was originally scheduled to report to prison in early December of 2021 after being sentenced to six years in prison on corruption charges.

SIZE DOES MATTER
At least that’s what four plaintiffs are hoping as they sue Burger King over the size of its Whoppers. The class action suit filed in the U.S District Court in Miami says that advertised Whoppers (as well as other BK sandwich offerings) you see are “based on false and misleading advertising concerning the size and/or the amount of ingredients contained in said menu items.” No idea what the plaintiffs are looking for as a settlement other than to prove a point. The King shall hear of this!
