RI Weather Today, Tuesday 4/21/20
By Jack Donnelly, meteorologist
An occluded low pressure system swings through during the day with some added upper level punch that will likely generate some isolated thunderstorms in the afternoon.
We’ll have a chilly start to the morning with lows in the low to mid 30’s and a gradual warming under partly cloudy skies to the low 50’s. We’ll notice cumulus development after midday or so with flattening anvil tops in the mid-afternoon. Southerly winds will be increasing and become quite gusty, blowing around 20 mph with gusts over 30 mph, particularly if there are thunderstorms present, which you’ll know if they are, what with all the flashing and banging….
The wins will shift in the evening to northwesterly, but still be gusty as some partial clearing takes place by evening.
