RI Weather Today – Thurs, Dec. 31, 2020
by Jack Donnelly, meteorologist
Our cold front sweeps through overnight into the early morning with some light rain showers ending by 9am, and winds will be dragging in dryer air as dew points drop in the lower levels. Higher cloud cover will remain behind the frontal passage as warm air aloft is forced from the southeast over the cooler air mass over us. We’ll have afternoon highs in the mid 40’s and evening lows in the mid 30’s with tapering winds, so whatever New Year’s celebrations we’re allowed to have will be accompanied by some, shall we say, crisp air.
