Rhode Island Weekend Weather for Sept. 16/17, 2023 – John Donnelly
by John Donnelly, meteorologist
Saturday 9/16/23:
Hurricane Lee strikes a glancing blow over the course of the day today, mainly a wind event for us, and being on the west side of the storm, the storms’ movement is subtracted from the storms reported wind speed, so if max winds are 65 mph and the storm is moving 20 mph, we’ll get 40 mph winds, which is just about we’ll see at maximum, minus friction due to interaction with southeastern Massachusetts, so mostly winds in the 20’s out of the northeast for us. We may get a few drops in the early morning, with a low around 60 followed by an afternoon high in the low 70’s.
It’s a “C” day!
Sunday 9/17/23:

Lee will be Nova Scotia’s problem at this point, and we’ll be mostly in the clear, with just a few clouds interrupting lots of sunshine and dry seasonable warmth. Morning lows in the cool mid 50’s rise to the mid 70’s by afternoon with a casual northeasterly breeze.
It’s an “A” day!
