Rhode Island weekend weather, April 29, 30/2023 – John Donnelly
by John Donnelly, meteorologist
Saturday 4/29/23:
Low pressure creeps through the northeastern US with rain beginning during the mid to late afternoon hours and continuing through the night. A southeasterly breeze will increase with gusts up to 25 mph. Morning lows in the mid 40’s rise to the mid 50’s.
A “C” day!
Sunday 4/30/23:
Occluded frontal system continues a casual tour through southern New England, providing nearly an all-day rain for your Sunday. The main punch will remain well to the west, so chances for thunderstorms are low, but a soft rolling thunderclap here and there can’t be ruled out. Morning lows around 50 rise to the upper 50’s late with a still increasing easterly breeze gusting to 35 mph.
A “D” day!

John Donnelly was born in Hialeah, Florida and moved back to Rhode Island and settled in Johnston, where he grew up until graduating from Lyndon State College in 1998 with a Bachelor of Science in Meteorology. As a child John always wanted to know how air moved, and he ran towards, not away from, thunder and lighting and various other ominous weather phenomena. He returned in 2001 to the old family neighborhood of Elmhurst.
