TODAY: Free Dental Clinic in Providence Oct. 4-5 – Rhode Island Mission of Mercy
The Rhode Island Mission of Mercy to Provide Free Oral Health Services to Rhode Islanders in Need is back. Since its launch in 2012, annual Mission of Mercy clinic has donated more than $3 million in critical dental care for thousands of local patients from across Rhode Island.
The Rhode Island Oral Health Foundation, in partnership with Delta Dental of Rhode Island and Providence Community Health Centers, will host its annual Rhode Island Mission of Mercy dental clinic this weekend.
Taking place Saturday, Oct 4 and Sunday, Oct. 5 at the Providence Community Health Centers dental clinic, the two-day Rhode Island Mission of Mercy provides free oral health services to Rhode Islanders in need. Services provided at the clinic include routine cleanings, X-rays, fillings, root canal treatments (front teeth only), partial dentures (Saturday only; denture pickup will be by scheduled appointment) and tooth extractions.
Services will be provided on Saturday and Sunday on a first-come-first-served basis until capacity is reached. Individuals seeking services may begin to line up at 5:45 a.m. on both Saturday and Sunday. The Clinic will run until 5:30pm both days.
This initiative is entirely volunteer-led, made possible by a team of more than 300 of dental and medical professionals who elect to donate their time and expertise to the cause. The clinic is also supported by hundreds of community volunteers, who assist in areas such as translation services. Delta Dental of Rhode Island has served as the initiative’s premier sponsor since its inception.
Last year’s Rhode Island Mission of Mercy served more than 620 patients and provided more than 2,800 procedures valued at roughly $375,000.
Interviews with Rhode Island Mission of Mercy leadership, as well as tours of the dental clinic, will be made available upon request.
The Providence Community Health Centers Dental Clinic is located at 335R Prairie Avenue in Providence.
