Regency Cigar Emporium’s 13th annual RI Food Bank fundraiser
Regency Cigar Emporium kicked off its annual fundraiser for Rhode Island Community Food Bank this week with the goal of raising more than $150,000 to feed families across the Ocean State. And issues a challenge to RI companies.
Regency started the initiative as a food drive in 2008, and last year they raised more than $105,000. Regency is looking to set a new record this year with the help of local partners and donors from across the state and country.
“It feels good when you help make a difference,” said Regency Cigar Emporium owner Michael Correia.
Correia said, “We are calling on Rhode Islanders, New Englanders, and people across the country to chip in whatever they can to help families struggling to buy food this holiday season. Every dollar raised can purchase about two pounds of food for a family in need.”
Donations can be made either in-person (752 Main Street, East Greenwich) or online at regencycigar.com by Sunday, December 26. Those who donate $20 or more will be entered into a raffle.
Regency is also encouraging companies across the state to join the effort as well. North Kingstown-based Green Development has committed to a $50,000 match. Fully Rooted Juice Company, Tel Aviv Bar, John Rocchio Construction and Antonio’s Pizza by the Slice have all donated thousands of dollars, and Flood Ford has also committed making a donation to the cause.
“We like to fundraise from all angles to help Rhode Islanders in need,” Correia said. “Every donation counts no matter what you give, so we urge everyone to stop by the store or head online to get involved in this amazing community effort.”
Regency Cigar Emporium is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Christmas Eve and is closed on Christmas Day. The store will be open from noon to 5 p.m., on Sunday, December 26 for the final day of donations.
Regency Cigar Emporium, located at 752 Main Street in East Greenwich, has offered the finest cigars, humidors and accessories for the past 25 years. In addition to a retail and online store, they also have a cigar bar onsite that caters to customers who may want to enjoy a glass of scotch or whiskey with their latest purchase. Regency offers dozens of brands of cigars for purchase, as well as cutters, humidification systems and lighters.

The Food Bank is so grateful to Michael Correia and Regency Cigar Emporium. Support like this helps us meet our goal of distributing 16 million pounds of food to our neighbors in need through our member food pantries in FY 2022. We appreciate your generosity! – Kate MacDonald, RI Community Food Bank
