Panera goes bottomless
In a move described by Panera’s CEO, Niren Chaudhary as “disrupting the industry”, Panera has launched a subscription coffee promotion. For $8.99 a month you can drink as much hot coffee, hot tea, and iced coffee with unlimited refills as you want throughout the month.
Panera claims to be the first in the national restaurant chain industry to offer a program like this.
You have to sign up to be a MyPanera Member and be 18 years of age or older. Excluded are cold brew iced coffee and espresso and cappuccino beverages.
(A quick calculation: if you ordered one cup of coffee every day for 30 days that would cost you about 30 cents a cup…)
Chaudhary believes the current Panera Rewards program – which currently has 38 million members – will gain another “few million” members this year because of the coffee subscription promotion.
