Outdoors in RI: Chunky trout, angry birds, trucks and plants, 2A decisions lead reset – Jeff Gross

The trout fishing currently is great not only in Rhode Island but in Maine as well. Both states are yielding chunky trout. Some of which are going on the grill tonight. While RI Rainbows are hitting junk food on the bottom and gold spoons, Salmon and Brook trout are hitting trolled spoons on lakes like Moosehead and also the West Outlet River. The minimum length on any Salmonids caught was 15″, with most over 16″, and quite a few in the 23″ – 26″ range.
Hats off to the RI DEM and Maine inland fisheries. Both have produced some exceptional fish in 2024. It is great that one section of government works well with our tax dollars. Maybe both Fish and Wildlife agencies could host a workshop for other government agencies especially the legislative branch on how to operate efficiently and smartly!
The fillets coming from these large fish are over 1″ thick. With so many pleased men and women fishing, I wonder if RI and ME took lessons from Hans and Franz in the Trout and Salmon rearing? The fish are very bulked up this year.

Angry Birds
Since moving back to the West Bay, I am fortunate to have many types of bird species at the feeder. Chickadees, Tit Mice, Red Capped Sparrows, Red Finch, Cardinals, and numerous Gold Finch swarm the feeder. The birds argue too much. If they would each take a separate perch, they could all eat at the same time. The Gold Finch are definitely the Alphas, as any bird who approaches the feeder, the Gold finch chase them off. The bird behavior reminds me of Congress with the constant bickering. Maybe if I put out two more feeders that will settle the battles. Knowing Jeff’s luck – I’ll attract a bear. Even Abby likes the new home as she gets a bird’s eye view of the feeder and the yard.
Seven Cedars Farm: plants to trucks
Seven Cedars Farm held their Spring Festival this past weekend and the event turned out well. Sales for the vendors were normal, however the plant sales went through the roof. Some great food was to be found at the concession trucks as well as some great ice cream from an old-style ice cream truck that was equipped with the kind of music that would have kids come running down the street when the music played. The weather was exceptional, to the point that even the pups had a great time. Attendees were pleasant and talkative. There is something I noticed here in Northwestern RI. Strangers say “hi” or “hello” to each other all the time. I have people wave to me from their yards. Reminds me of olden Maine, and – the way life should be.
I even encountered an older US Marine Veteran open-carrying in the local supermarket. His exposed stainless-steel barrel attracted no concern whatsoever. Indeed, a reset is coming. Grandparents, aunts and uncles, and parents: Mark your calendars for June 1st (a Saturday) at Seven Cedars. They will host their annual “Touch A Truck” event. I attended last year and heard many a squeal of delight as little ones looked at the gigantic trucks in awe. Trucks of all varieties, including military, will be at Seven Cedars Farm so plan to have the truck fancier or construction apprentice walk among the giants.
2A successes lead a different kind of reset
As mentioned before, I feel a great reset is coming. Donald Trump garnered a 100K audience in New Jersey a few days ago. Yes, blue New Jersey, of all places. Throw in the fact that a serious number of Second Amendment SCOTUS decisions are about to be dropped, as well as the potential Assault Weapon (propaganda term) and Magazine Bans potentially being heard by SCOTUS and the USA is headed back to greatness. Throw in the 9th Circuit, which took everyone by surprise, and concluded thata non-violent felons cannot be denied their Second Amendment constitutional rights. “Atta-Boy”, 9th Circuit!
While the Mainstream Media (MSM) will continue to sell the public on how wonderful things are as the Dow hit 40K today, the reality is its smoke and mirrors, hiding the truth. Inflation only allows purchases 25% on the dollar compared to 2019. So, the Dow at 40K is only a purchasing value of 25% 2019 currency. Big Deal! This country has been so severely compromised in the last 3 years that even Progressives and Conservatives are chanting in unison at the root cause of this USA crisis. The country appears ready to reset itself and end the great divide that has occurred. I personally bet the reset will happen on November 5th, 2024. See for yourself – and judge for yourself:

I saw a huge push for Article 5 over the last couple years. Maybe it’s time. Let’s start with Term Limits! Then leave the 2nd Amendment alone!
