UPDATED: RI Nursing Home/Group Home data. One Nursing Home with NEW outbreak. Two others with few new cases.
As Rhode Island has opened up some facility visitation, we watch the numbers to protect our most vulnerable.
Bannister House in Providence – is experiencing a significant outbreak with approx. 25 residents positive for the virus. Visitation has been suspended. They have 160+ residents. Morgan Health Center Nursing and Rehab in Johnston and West View Nursing Center in West Warwick are each experiencing a few (less than 5) new cases. The National Guard is assisting Bannister House in getting control of the spread.
Statement from the RI Dept. of Health: “We are working with the facility’s administrators to make sure that residents are being separated, and infection control measures are being put in place throughout. “
Here is the data that has been updated.
Note: current active cases in a facility are not reported – only new cases in the last 14 days. Family wanting to know this before considering visiting should inquire if a facility has any recovering patients with COVID19. They would be in a restricted part of the facility.
Week ending July 24th, using highest values:
Cases: approx. 2,879
New cases in the past 14 days: 34
Cumulative resident fatalities: 798 (approx. 25+ since last update)
