No “healthy aging” when 80% of RI coronavirus deaths are in nursing homes.
On Wednesday mornings, the RI Lieutenant Governor, DanMcKee, hosts a conference call with local leaders in healthy aging and long-term care to discuss efforts and resources related to COVID-19. On these calls, they’ve heard updates from the Rhode Island Office of Healthy Aging, the Alzheimer’s Association Rhode Island Chapter, local senior centers and others.
Anyone is welcome to call in and submit their healthy aging and long-term care related questions in advance.
If you’d like to participate, we have suggested the Lt. Gov. and others on the call discuss the crisis in RI nursing homes with COVID cases and deaths.
Presently, RI is #3 in the country for most % deaths in nursing homes – 80% of all deaths in RI come from congregate settings and strike the very old.
