Music on the Hill summer concert series continues
A wonderful series of concerts throughout Rhode Island.
From John M. Pellegrino –
Welcome to Music on the Hill’s 2022 festival, featuring many Rhode Island-born musicians and composers. We’ll begin with a brassy outdoor concert in Warwick, and the next six concerts will take place in East Greenwich, North Providence, and Cranston. As in 2021, our one-hour concerts are offered without intermission.
We’re excited to present the East Coast premiere of The Baldwin Sonata by Anthony Green, commissioned by pianist Jason Hardink, both Rhode Islanders by birth. Jason will travel from Utah to perform this monumental piece, and Anthony will make the trip from the Netherlands. Fans of the American songbook will enjoy Diana McVey and Mary Phillips singing Sondheim, Gershwin, Porter, Lerner and Loewe, Bernstein, and Rogers and Hart. Flutist Anthony Trionfoand Rhode Islanders Peter Ferry(percussion) and Margaret Butler (oboe) will make their returns, while clarinet/cello/piano trio IonSound will make its Music on the Hill debut. Our finale features violin virtuoso Anton Miller performing Brahms’s Sonata in D Minor, made possible by the Aaron Roitman Fund for Chamber Music.
Inspiring the next generation has always been part of Music on the Hill’s mission. This year, we return to in-school concerts and will visit some classrooms. As always, concert admission to ALL festival performances is free of charge for students.
Thank you for your support. Ticket buyers, board members, musicians, grant makers, donors, advertisers and concert sponsors — all help Music on the Hill to thrive.
