About the Mental Health Association of Rhode Island:

OUR VISION

All people living with mental health challenges will be treated with dignity and respect and will receive all the support and services needed to live their best lives.

OUR MISSION

Our mission is to promote and nourish mental health through advocacy, education, and policy development.

OUR VALUES

COMPASSION & ALTRUISM

We respect the people we serve, their diversity, and their experiences. We value the expertise of our advisors, the time given by our volunteers, and the selfless generosity of donors who invest their hard-earned dollars in our work.

COLLABORATION & COOPERATION

We practice participatory decision-making whenever possible. We recognize the collective impact of strategic collaboration with partners and allies.

EQUALITY & JUSTICE

We steadfastly protect the rights of our most vulnerable. Firm in our actions, but kind in our tone, we speak ‘truth to power.’ We understand the force of community activism and use it wisely.

INNOVATION

We look for opportunities to be a problem-solver. We connect the dots among various stakeholders to affect macro-level systems change. We brainstorm and try new things.

About the Interfaith Counseling Center:

History

The ICC was established in 1973, by the Health and Wellness Committee at Beneficent Church. The vision began with a center dedicated to the concept of mental health counseling that is accessible to all and sensitive to the spiritual, faith, and meaning questions which lie at the heart of modern living.  The ICC is a Rhode Island based non-profit 501(c)(3) organization, and is committed to making its services available to all in need.  In keeping with the vision of our founding group, we support our mission by providing the option of sliding scale payments and scholarships to those in need. The ICC does not subscribe to any one faith and has provided counseling care to thousands of individuals of different faith backgrounds.  We are funded by grants, individual gifts, and business donations.

What is the ICC?

Since 1973, Interfaith Counseling Center (ICC) has been a trusted source of counseling committed to making its services available to all in need, maintaining the mission of accessible, affordable, and sensitive counseling care for all.

We offer a wide range of counseling services by professional practitioners who work with individuals, couples and families to strengthen relationships and foster growth by considering all aspects of the human experience.
