Little Free Libraries – newest in Cranston’s Garden City
The management of Garden City (shopping) center has decided to celebrate reading and created their very own “Little Free Library” in the center.
Poised between Avvio and Jos. A. Bank, and near the corporate offices of GCC, the little library was stocked with books for children this week, though it will have books for all ages on an ongoing basis. You can take a new book to read, or donate an old favorite – or both!
We went in search of the little library and found it nestled lovingly among spring’s first tulips. The opening presented books for children, with a “celebrating diversity” theme. On Friday there were only 4 books left, so we hope people will bring their favorites to donate, too.
Little Free Libraries area actually registered on a site – https://littlefreelibrary.org – which provides a map to locate one near you – a quick search shows well over 125 such libraries in Rhode Island.
Here are the ones just in the city of Cranston registered with Little Free Library (the Garden City Center one is not yet registered). How up to date these are is not clear, especially with COVID, so keep that in mind. You can register on the site for their upcoming mobile app, too, which will give you Little Free Libraries anywhere in the US..
But, what a fun scavenger hunt – you could gather up a bunch of great books and go on a replenishing spree!
