His positive demeanour and the way he humanizes the law has earned him the title of “the nicest judge in the world.â€
From 1985, when he first took the bench, to when he retired in 2023, Judge Caprio dispensed true compassion to a continuous flow of people in his municipal traffic court in Providence, Rhode Island. His courtroom was a place where defendants were treated with dignity, and where the deserving were given a break—not a pass or get-out-of-jail-free card, but the chance to right their lives and care for their families. Judge Caprio’s book, Compassion in the Court, explores these stories and lessons from his life and the courtroom.
Compassion in the Courtis published byBenBella books. This book signing event is made possible thanks to a generous donation of books from the following companies: Benell-Federal Sign, Shentong Law Firm, Point Bar Review and Yinquong Law Firm.
