Today’s Ceremonies
The big finale!
8am – President Trump left for Florida from Andrews Air Force Base on Air Force One and arrives before noon at Mar-a-Lago in Palm Beach.
The Inauguration of Joe Biden and Kamala Harris began on Wednesday, Jan. 20th, starting at 10 a.m. from the West Front of the U.S. Capitol.
Biden began the day with a church service with invited bi-partisan congressional leaders.
At noon the inauguration began. In-person attendance was severely limited to Congress and invited guests due to safety protocols. Even with social distancing and safeguards in place, there was noticeable hugging and hand shaking in the outdoor event.
Singing were Lady Gaga, Jennifer Lopez, and Garth Brooks. A poem was read by the youngest poet laureates in the US – see below.
After the inauguration the Bidens and Harris’ went to Arlington National Cemetery for a ceremony, then participated in a virtual parade, which included walking the last few blocks to the White House.
He then went to the Oval Office to sign several Executive Orders – and to read a letter that President Trump said he had left for President Biden, as is tradition.
