It’s Summertime! Who’s Your Farmer?
Who’s Your Farmer? Farmers markets are one of the easiest places to find the tasty harvests of Rhode Island farms. You’ll find a diversity of foods fresh from the fields and meet the people who grow your meal. Plus, every dollar paid directly to a local grower is a dollar reinvested into Rhode Island communities.
Farmers markets and farm stands are essential food access points for everyone in our community, but especially for those using federal food assistance benefits. Here we provide confirmed information about the farmers markets and farm stands open this season, and where you can use SNAP/EBT, WIC, and Bonus Bucks.
SNAP will double your value, too…
Key to Icons Women, Infants, and Children Program — take WIC checks directly to farmers at farmers markets to buy fresh fruit and vegetables. Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) — Take your EBT card to the farmers market Welcome Table to swipe and receive tokens to spend with vendors. Bonus Bucks — SNAP/EBT users receive 100% bonus every time you shop at the farmers market! For every dollar you swipe from your EBT card, you’ll get a free dollar to spend on fresh fruit, vegetables, and herbs. Bonus Bucks is an initiative of Farm Fresh RI. * Use Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Benefits directly with farmers at your farmers market. To access these “Senior Coupons,” please contact your local Senior Center. Find your local Farmers Markets in this locations: · Providence · Pawtucket/Central Falls · Blackstone Valley · East Bay · West Bay · South County |
