Two black and white cats in a pet adoption circle.

Gimme’ Shelter: Road Runner & Sylvester, at the Providence Animal Control Center

They call us the Atwells Ave boys! All of the neighbors in around said that we used to live in a home until our people got kicked out or moved away. When cats get left behind, they don’t go far because the outside world is scary.

Our brother who was really friendly was brought to PAC a few months ago in the summertime, he was lucky. He was already neutered so he was friendly and he got adopted fast. Myself, Sylvester and by brother, Road Runner, have been out since August competing with all of the other cats to get into the shelter where we could be taken care of.

I was picking fights with a neighborhood dog, he was always catching these paws so the woman wanted me trapped and that’s how I came to back. The Director trapped by brother Road Runner right before a big storm, we are all safe now – phew! That’s just 2 of us, there are HUNDREDS like us in Providence.

One by one PAC and other rescues are helping our friends! I am about 3 years old and FIV+ I am slowly coming out of my shell. Road Runner is about 3 years old too but negative for FIV. We can be adopted together or apart! We both use the litter box and like all of these hot meals we are getting, this is great! We would love indoor life again!

To adopt us:

If you can see me, I am still available! No phone calls please, everything is done online and we do need an application submitted and approved before scheduling a visit. We differ from other shelters by offering a one on one experience between you, our staff and the animal or animals you’ve chosen to become a new family member! Please email [email protected].

About the Providence Animal Control Division

The Providence Animal Control Division protects the health and safety of our residents and their pets with progressive leadership and education, and continues to engage the hearts and minds of the community to help all animals.

Since 2015, the Animal Control Division has adopted a “low risk euthanasia” philosophy of healthy adoptable animals and will continue to improve the live release rate of shelter animals via adoptions, returning strays to their owners, transferring animals to rescues, TNR, programs/services and treating medical cases. We believe that with progressive programs, we can have a more humane City. Through our Gimme Shelter program, PAC is spaying and neutering owned and feral cats for Providence residents. To participate please send a message through our Facebook page at Providence Animal Care Center.
