Emmanuel House Guests Make Masks to Help Community
The guests at Emmanuel House, the diocesan homeless shelter located on Public Street, Providence, have been busy making protective masks aimed at helping guests of local homeless shelters as well as shelter providers who may be facing a shortage of masks amid the Coronavirus crisis.
After finding a “do-it-yourself” solution on the internet, staff purchased the materials and the guests went to work, using elastic bands and shop cloth to create the protective masks they are working to distribute to other local shelters.
A Catholic Charity Appeal supported ministry, Emmanuel House has provided a safe place each night for single men to stay during the year in addition to other services such as addiction recovery, employment resources and much more since 2010.
For more information, contact Emmanuel House Shelter Director Dotty Perreault at (401) 421-7888.
