Texas reports single-day high in coronavirus deaths two weeks after reopening

Mexico registered 47,144 cases of coronavirus now, and death toll rising to 5,045 – a slightly higher death rate due to the widespread presence of pre-existing medical conditions such as diabetes, hypertension and obesity.

New Orleans has partial opening, restricting buildings to 25% of capacity and requiring reservations for restaurants, nail salons and other businesses. Malls and retail stores can reopen, but casinos, video poker, live entertainment and bars are still closed.

Officials are still urging people to stay home as much as possible and requiring people to wear masks in public unless exercising.

Former President Barack Obama criticized “the folks in charge” for their response to the pandemic in a virtual commencement address strong condemnation of President Donald Trump’s administration, delivered to 27,000 graduating seniors at black colleges.
