“Coaching is my ministry – the players are my congregation”. PC Coach Kim English, on faith
In this speech to students at Providence College, Kim English, the head coach of the Providence College men’s basketball team, expresses his gratitude to the students, faculty, and staff at Providence College.
He talks about the team’s success, the importance of retention, and the impact of the transfer portal in college basketball. He also shares his thoughts on the importance of faith and its role in his life and the lives of his players. English says they say the Lord’s prayer with the team both before and after every game. “We bring our faith to the court.”
“Don’t just show up. We should be on fire,” as he says, and then quotes from scripture:
From Revelation 3:15-18 – “I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish you were either one or the other! So, because you are lukewarm-neither hot nor cold-I am about to spit you out of my mouth.”
