Business Beat: Qualify for the R.A.M.P. Business Sticker – the accessibility seal of approval
On Friday, May 24th, businesses and organizations were invited to qualify for a RAMP Business Sticker, designated the location with the “seal of approval” from R.A.M.P. RAMP (Real Access Motivates Progress, founded by Tina Guenette. Guenette serves as the President and CEO.
RAMP is a nonprofit organization whose mission is “to educate and advocate for accessibility and inclusion. They support all individuals with disabilities, their families, and allies in creating a safe and barrier free environment.”
Receiving the first fully approved stickers to display at their place of work were: Free Play Bar Arcade, Providence, Crosstown Press, Cranston, and The SteelYard, who received the very first sticker.
Participating in the Friday presser were North Providence Mayor Charles Lombardi, Providence Mayor Brett Smiley, General Treasurer, James Diossa, and other mayors, representatives of the RI League of Cities & Towns, RI Secretary of State, Gregg Amore. Lt. Governor Sabina Matos, RI Veterans Director, Kasim Yarn, and several others (see video):

Tina said, “unveiling of the new RAMP Business Sticker is a significant milestone in our mission to promote accessibility and inclusion in Rhode Island to our local businesses. They have achieved mobility aid accessibility through qualifying for the sticker. Our goal is to empower every business to become fully accessible, accessing our Work Ability Grant, if they need to overcome any obstacles.”

“The RAMP Business Sticker will be a badge of honor, symbolizing a commitment to inclusivity and welcoming all customers, regardless of abilities. Participating businesses will be listed on our website and, in the future, on a dedicated app, making it easy for visitors to find accessible venues across Rhode Island.”
