Bishop Tobin dedicates new Mausoleum TODAY – features stained glass from closed churches

A Dedication of Saints Peter & Paul Mausoleum in Cranston will be held TODAY, Saturday, June 19th at 11a.m. by Bishop Tobin.

Most Rev. Thomas J. Tobin, Bishop of Providence, will dedicate a new, 22,000-square-foot mausoleum at Saint Ann’s Cemetery in Cranston. Modeled after the historic Cathedral of Saints Peter and Paul in Providence, the mausoleum includes a chapel with seating for 200, spaces for more than 2,000 caskets and 700 urns, and incorporates stained glass windows from closed churches.

“The new Saints Peter and Paul Mausoleum is a beautiful, prayerful and peaceful sanctuary for the earthly remains of the Catholic faithful. The souls of those who rest there will be accompanied by the prayers of angels and saints, and the perpetual remembrance of the entire Catholic community,” said Bishop Tobin. “What a blessing!”

The diocese broke ground for the mausoleum on May 1, 2018; it was built by McClesky Mausoleums on a design by Cemetery Design Associates.

St. Ann’s is located at 72 Church Street in Cranston.
