ART! Drive-by Art & Open Studios in Jamestown
by Nancy Thomas
Was it something we said? Or was it the pandemic times? Whatever it is or was, we think the idea of a drive by art show is new, innovative, empathetic towards those with disabilities, and quite adaptive!
Artists’ Open Studios + Drive-By Art is a one-day, island-wide artists-led event where participating artists welcome visitors into their studios – or to view their art outside while passing by. This is a creative program managed by the Jamestown Art Center.
The event will be held on Saturday, August 6th from 10 am – 4 pm – Rain date: Sunday, August 7.
A digital, interactive tour map is planned so visitors can use it on their smartphone for turn-by-turn navigation to different artist’s locations. A print map will be available for pick up at the JAC during Gallery Hours beginning August 3.
Participating artists are members of the JAC and/or the Conanicut Island Art Association (CIAA), and include:
Jillian Barber, Lisa Barsumian, Nina’s Beads, Shirley Mae Bell, Rose M. Chase, Clancy Designs, Kenny Defusco, Karen Dolmanisth, Peter Diepenbrock, Peter Elsworth, Mary Gazda, Andy Hunter, Alexandra Kent Arts, Marilyn McShane Levine, Sue Mailloux, Amanda Matthews, Rick Meli, Pete Flood, Kate Petrie, Elaine Porter, Peter Strickland, Didi Suydam, Christopher T. Terry, Diane Terry, Matthew Vars, Josy Wright, and Ernie Wulff.
