ART! Colors of Spring at Spring Bull Gallery, Newport
Colors of Spring continues to exhibit until April 28th at Spring Bull Gallery, 55 Bellevue Ave, Newport. See the exhibit from noon to 4pm, closed Tuesdays.
The exhibit was juried for entry by Del-Bourree Bach. Cash prizes were awarded for 1st place ($300), 2nd place ($200) and 3rd place ($100) with Honorable Mentions at $50.
First place, top: “Sun Setting On Red Barn” by Sheila Newquist – Watercolor, 11″x15″, $525
JUROR COMMENTS: “This piece shows masterful use of watercolor. I particularly love the textural patterns throughout the painting. It is representational, but not too tight, with a lovely freedom of brushwork throughout. Excellent!” – Del-Bourree Bach

More from the juror:
“It was an honor to be asked to jury this year’s “Colors of Spring” exhibit, and I thank all the artists who put their best creative foot forward and submitted such strong and diverse work. The job of choosing what makes the best show is always a challenge, and then making the choice of which of so many fine pieces to present with awards is never easy. It is both stimulating and difficult to judge other artists’ work, but I always enjoy and learn from the process. I have tried to put together an exciting show, and one that lives up to the theme of spring colors as well. In the end the selection of work and award winners is subjective, but I am happy to have had so many exceptional pieces to choose from. Kudos to all the winners! Keep on creating!”
