Agency Focus – Help Starts with 2-1-1 at United Way
Three simple numbers, one human connection. 200,000 calls a year in Rhode Island. If you or someone you know needs help, call 2-1-1.
Rhode Island’s 2-1-1 program is run by the United Way of RI. It includes The Point, which is a statewide resource network that provides information, referrals, and long-term care options to seniors, adults with disabilities, and their caregivers. United Way 2-1-1 in Rhode Island is a free, confidential service that provides information, referrals, and is available in multiple languages. They connect you with agencies and trained specialists who offer support and will answer all of your questions. With access to a vast network of human services, it is THE place to start when you need help.
Whether you’re looking for help with tax preparation or childcare, or need help with food, housing, or medical costs, 2-1-1 specialists are here, every day of the year, even during snowstorms.

Bringing 2-1-1 to you
Their Mobile Outreach Center is making stops in your community to bring the help straight to you. Meet the Outreach RV in a neighborhood near you. They have out-in-the-community events on November 18th in Pawtucket and West Warwick, on the 19th in Providence and Coventry with plans to visit Lincoln, Bristol Cranston, and Warren, before December 1st.
For any emergency situation, the first call to police, fire or medical emergencies should always begin with 9-1-1.
