ART! 11th Annual “Sail into Imagination”, Steamship Authority Student Winners
The Woods Hole, Martha’s Vineyard and Nantucket Steamship Authority is pleased to announce the winners of its 11th annual “Sail into Imagination” art contest for students in grades kindergarten through 12. The winning artwork will be showcased in a 2027 calendar and on board its ferries this fall and winter.
More than 100 students submitted original artwork inspired by the theme “The Sea and Me.” Students were asked to share their connections to the sea and the Steamship Authority. Students attending schools on Cape Cod, plus residents of Martha’s Vineyard, Nantucket, Fairhaven, and New Bedford, were invited to participate.
“We’re always impressed by the creativity that comes through in this contest, and this year was no exception,” said General Manager Alex Kryska. “It’s exciting to see these students put their talent and personality into their artwork, and we’re incredibly grateful to every student who helped make this year’s contest so special.”
Each winner will receive a $100 Steamship Authority gift card that can be used for travel, concessions, or parking. Also, student Emily Majkowski of the West Tisbury School in Vineyard Haven has been selected as the winner of a $150 Visa gift card in a grand prize drawing open to all entrants in the contest.
The Steamship Authority extends its sincere thanks to Benton Jones, director of art at the Cape Cod Museum of Art, for judging the art submissions.
A limited quantity of calendars will be available for pickup at Steamship Authority terminals starting in November.
Posters with winning artwork will also be displayed on-board Authority vessels.
The 2027 calendar winners follow, including their name, grade for the 2025-2026 school year, school, and the name of their artwork. All winning art:
