Catch the Tennis Wave: Tennis Hall of Fame offers Clinics, Open-Play at Bowen’s Wharf

When people think of Newport, two things immediately come to mind: its storied tennis tradition and spectacular coastal setting. Beginning Monday, the two will come together as the International Tennis Hall of Fame launches The Tennis Wave, presented by 11th Hour Racing.

The free, three-day waterfront festival will officially open the Hall of Fame’s 2026 Induction Celebration week by bringing tennis directly into the community.

Bowen’s Wharf will be transformed into an interactive tennis destination where longtime fans, curious newcomers and families can join the action. No experience is necessary—and racquets will be available.

Hall of Fame Tennis Club professionals will lead clinics and open-play sessions beside Newport Harbor. Participants can pick up a racquet for the first time, sharpen their volleys or introduce children to the fundamentals of the game in a relaxed, welcoming setting.

USTA staff will offer Red Ball clinics designed to make tennis easy and enjoyable for beginners. Visitors can also try playing with an old-fashioned wooden racquet, test their skills with an oversized racquet and take part in daily challenges and giveaways.
