To Do in RI: Meet the Newfies! Warwick Hosts One of the Largest Gatherings of Newfoundland Dogs This Week

Warwick to Host One of the Nation’s Largest Gatherings of Newfoundland Dogs

Public invited to watch and interact with dogs during week of free, outdoor events

Hundreds of fluffy Newfoundland dogs will take over Warwick as GoProvidence and the Rhode Island Sports Commission welcome back the Newfoundland Club of America for its 2026 National Specialty. This weeklong celebration of the breed – known for its sweet temperament, water-rescue instincts and teddy-bear looks – features conformation, obedience, rally, draft tests, and themed social events. Expect a sea of big paws and even bigger hearts, as 400 Newfies from around the United States and as far as Italy, Denmark and Slovenia participate. Most events are held outside and are free and open to the public, and members of the media are invited to cover.
