Bunnies, Parrots, a Service Dog and MORE at Providence Children’s Museum this School Vacation Week

Get ready for a whirlwind of wonder and excitement as Providence Children’s Museum (PCM) transforms April School Vacation Week into a magical playground of discovery!
April school vacation week tends to sneak up on families. One minute it’s March, the next you’re figuring out how to keep kids engaged for five straight days. At Providence Children’s Museum, the answer is pretty simple: give them something real to do.
This year’s lineup leans into hands-on experiences—things kids can touch, ask questions about, and remember long after the week is over.
It kicked off on Friday and Sunday with activities. Continuing this week they have activities for Wednesday, Thursday and Friday!
On Wednesday, April 23 at 2:00 pm, Hug-a-Bunny with Xen’s Critters invites families to slow down, meet some very patient bunnies and rabbits, and enjoy a quieter kind of connection.
Then on Thursday, April 24 at 10:30 am, a service dog storytime offers something a little different—stories paired with a real working dog, giving kids a chance to learn about empathy, accessibility, and the important roles animals can play in people’s lives.
The week wraps up on Friday, April 25 at 10:00 am with a visit from Rhode Island Parrot Rescue, where bright, talkative birds tend to steal the show and a few hearts along the way.
“Our excitement is off the charts as we gear up for a week bursting with joy for the school break,” exclaims Caroline Payson, Executive Director at PCM. “We’ve got a lineup that’ll make your young ones’ eyes sparkle with delight!”
All these extraordinary adventures are included with regular museum admission of just $20 per person – no pre-registration required! Simply show up ready for fun.
For families staying close to home this April break, it’s a solid way to fill a day—or a few—with something that feels both fun and worthwhile.
Providence Children’s Museum is open daily from 9:30 AM to 4:30 PM and is located at 100 South Street, Providence, RI 02903.
