TODAY in Pawtucket: First 500 Get FREE Food & Essentials at Elisha Project’s Easter Event
In time for Easter, The Elisha Project will distribute fresh food, hygiene products, household goods, and essential items to 500 Rhode Island families today, Saturday, April 4, beginning at 8 a.m. The drive-through event will take place at 100 Main Street in Pawtucket, at the former Apex parking lot.
Founder George Ortiz will be in attendance.
This car-only Share Market will serve the first 500 vehicles to arrive, with tickets distributed on-site. Each vehicle will receive the same quantity of items, regardless of the number of occupants.
The event marks The Elisha Project’s first Share Market of 2026 and comes at a critical time—just ahead of Easter and following recent SNAP benefit reductions impacting approximately 2,500 Rhode Islanders.
The distribution is part of the organization’s broader mission to support families in need across the state. In 2025, The Elisha Project held 15 Share Markets, distributing nearly 7.8 million pounds of culturally appropriate food, furniture, and essential hygiene supplies throughout Rhode Island’s urban core.
