Rhode Island Weather for February 24, 2026

State of Emergency in RI stays in place as we greet this clean-up day. The morning remains dangerous and disruptive (residual blizzard impacts, potential lingering outages), but the afternoon/evening recovery to clear/cold weather prevents a total failure. It’s a massive improvement but still far from pleasant—stay cautious early, bundle up, and enjoy the eventual calm if you’re indoors. Know that days of increasing temps will start the melting and flooding – and yes, more snow and rain.
Morning:
  • Lingering light snow or snow showers possible early.
  • Blowing/drifting snow early due to milder, but still there winds.
  • Temperatures around 20-30°F, but feeling much colder (wind chills in teens or single digits).
  • Cloudy to mostly cloudy, windy (north winds 15-25 mph, gusts 30-50 mph early tapering).
  • Hazardous travel early due to residual blizzard effects, but improving as plows get out to side roads and residential clean out can begin
