Business Beat: Planet Fitness Donates Equipment Throughout RI and MA

PLANET FITNESS GIVES BACK TO MASSACHUSETTS & RHODE ISLAND 

Throughout 2025, Planet Fitness Inc., one of the largest and fastest-growing franchisors and operators of fitness centers with more members than any other fitness brand, deepened its commitment to community well-being through meaningful local partnerships across Rhode Island and Massachusetts. Local Planet Fitness franchises donated gently used fitness equipment to schools, first responders, and town organizations, and local clubs hosted the annual Holiday Giving Trees initiative to help fulfill children’s holiday gift wishes.

Local Planet Fitness franchisees donated a total of 74 pieces of commercial-grade fitness equipment to support local first responders and town organizations, including police departments in Marlborough, Mass., Lincoln, R.I., Fairhaven, Mass., and Watertown, Mass., fire departments in Marlborough, Mass., South Yarmouth, Mass., Merrimac, Mass., Lincoln, R.I., Fairhaven, Mass., Norwood, Mass., and Johnston, R.I., as well as other community organizations, including the Town of Lincoln, R.I., Lincoln High School, and the Fairhaven State Troopers.

As a proud partner of Boys & Girls Clubs of America (BGCA) through the brand’s national philanthropic initiative, The Judgement Free Generation®, local Planet Fitness locations hosted the annual Holiday Giving Trees initiative. The 33 participating Planet Fitness locations across Massachusetts and Rhode Island collected more than 1,800 gifts to brighten the holidays for children in need. The initiative supported Boys & Girls Clubs throughout Massachusetts, including Metro South, Fall River, and New Bedford, as well as clubs across Rhode Island, including East Providence, Newport, Northern Rhode Island, Pawtucket, Providence, and Warwick.

Highlights include:

• Planet Fitness of Warren, R.I. far exceeded expectations, donating 143 gifts – fulfilling 93 additional wishes beyond the original 50.

• Planet Fitness of Rumford, R.I. collected 57 gifts, surpassing its original goal by seven additional wish tags after fulfilling all 50 initial requests.

• Planet Fitness of East Providence, R.I. went above and beyond, surprising Boys & Girls Clubs with four additional gifts beyond its original commitment.

Together, the Holiday Giving Trees and equipment donations highlight Planet Fitness’ ongoing commitment to making a tangible impact in local communities. By supporting children through Boys & Girls Clubs and empowering schools, first responders, and town organizations with state-of-the-art fitness equipment, local Planet Fitness franchisees are helping to promote wellness and create stronger, healthier, and safer communities across Massachusetts and Rhode Island.
