Rhode Island Weather for January 18, 2026
Morning: Clouds and snow develop Sunday morning, with snow generally spreading into the area and continuing throughout the late morning, quite light until later in the day. Temperatures start in the upper 20s to around freezing.
Afternoon:
Snow continues in the afternoon with limited breaks, becoming steadier at times the later in the day it gets. Highs near 36–38°F with accumulations slow to build. Snow showers likely throughout much of the afternoon.
Evening:
Snow carries into the evening and accumulation increases, with forecasts indicating a total of 2–4 inches possible by late evening / overnight across much of the state as the system persists. The snowline where totals could reach over 4″ runs diagonally through northern RI and could move, as it already has done, over time.
A snowy, accumulating system lasting most of the daylight and into the night — enough to impact travel and routines — lowers the day’s outdoor comfort and tempo, even though temperatures aren’t extreme.
Memories harken back to a Patriot game in the snow! We’ll be there again today!
