To Do in RI: 3-day 98th Annual Greek Festival in Pawtucket – OPA!


The 98th Annual Greek Festival will be held Friday through Sunday, August 22-24th at the Assumption of the Virgin Mary Greek Orthodox Church, 97 Walcott Street, in Pawtucket.

Here’s some of the schedule:

Friday, 5:00 – 10:00 pm*

Saturday, 12:00 – 10:00 pm*

Sunday, 12:00 – 9:00 pm*

*Note: Food line closes 30 minutes prior to festival close

Come for a weekend of traditional Greek food, music, and dance at the annual Greek Festival in Pawtucket!  There’s SO much to do!

FEAST on traditional Greek dishes such as roasted lamb, chicken and pork souvlaki, gyro, pastitsio, moussaka, stuffed grape leaves, and more!

SAVOR the flavors of our homemade Greek desserts including baklava, loukoumades, almond rolls, kourambiedes, rice pudding, baklava cheesecake, and more!

SIP on traditional Greek spirits such as ouzo, mastiha, metaxa, or enjoy a Greek beer or wine. Also serving Greek frappe iced coffee and hot coffees!

ENJOY a performance of traditional and modern Greek dances in traditional costume by Elliniki Yperiphania = Greek Pride of RI dance troupe!

PARTICIPATE in baking demonstrations and Church tours!

SHOP at our indoor/outdoor AGORA marketplace featuring Greek imports & gift items, and local artisans!

DANCE the night away to the sounds of Georgios Karatzas & Athenian Entertainment!

Additional Details:

Free admission.  Rain or Shine.

Free shuttle service with parking across from Pawtucket City Hall (shuttle runs every 15 minutes during festival hours)

Service animals welcome. No pets allowed.

Limited handicapped parking onsite available.

Featuring our full menu of dishes, desserts, café and bar, PLUS:

  • Greek fish pliaki, stuffed peppers, and “gigantes†(giant lima beans Greek style), compliments of Division Street House of Pizza, Stratis and Nikou families

7:00 PM “Taverna†dance performance by Elliniki Yperiphania = Greek Pride of RI dance troupe

Saturday, August 23rd

12:00 pm – 10:00 pm (food line closes 9:30 pm)

2:00 pm & 5:00 pm: Church tours with Father Philip Zymaris

3:00 pm & 6:00 pm: Baking demonstrations with Patty Panichas

4:00 pm: Dance performance by the junior members of our dance troupe in full traditional costume

7:00 pm: Island dances from our main dance troupe in full traditional costume

12:00 – 7:00 pm:  face painting from I Want That Face!

 

Sunday, August 24th

12:00 pm – 9:00 pm (food line closes 8:30 pm)

2:00 pm & 5:00 pm: Church tours with Father Philip Zymaris

3:00 pm & 6:00 pm: Baking demonstrations with Patty Panichas

4:00 pm: Dance performance by the junior members of our dance troupe in full traditional costume

7:00 pm: Mainland dance performance from our core dance troupe in full traditional costume

12:00 – 7:00 pm:  face painting from I Want That Face!

8:30 PM food line closes, Cash Raffle prize winners drawn

Thu/Fri, July 31st & August 1st:  Koulourakia (braided cookie) preparation, 10 am – 4 pm

Tue/Thu, Aug 5th & 7th:  Moussaka preparation, 12:00 – 6:00 pm

Tue, August 12th:  Kourambiethes (powdered sugar cookies) preparation, 10am – 4 pm
